Gap above navbar graphic in Dreamweaver MX

Hi All,

I use Xara MenuMaker to produce a small navbar which I insert into a cell within DreamWeaver MX but no matter how I try to re-size this cell there is always a small 20 or so pixel gap above the navbar graphic.

Can anyone advise as I am a novice with DreamWeaver!

TIA!

Could be many things, but check that there is nothing else in that cell in the code (for example, a non-breaking space) and that the code runs <td>images</td>.

It could also be that you've hit the edge of the cell in layout view - inadvertently giving the cell a height. Check that none of your table cells have heights.

Try

Modify> page properites> top margin = 0

The default setting in Dreamweaver is about 10px if you do not specify heights and widths of margings top and side.

When you say you are inserting it into a cell, what exactly do you mean? Are you inserting lots of images into one cell - or just one? Or are you inserting sliced images in a table into a cell of a larger table? And which view are you using?

Well,

It would appear that thanks to the various suggestions above I have managed to get my navbar appearing at top left of my browser window. However, in standard / layout view in DreamWeaver there is a definite 0.5 cm gap between the top of the cell and the top of the graphic....

How weird....

Don't worry about what things look like in the DW work window - just what happens when you preview it in a browser. The work window stuff starts to look even funkier when you're using CSS and divs and show/hide javascript, but you'll get used to it.

I would take a look at the Page Margins in dreamweaver and make sure you have them set to 0.

I think its under Modify -> Page Properties.
Check left margin and top margin. Make them 0 and see what happens.

never mind, I must have read wrong...

Anyway, like above, dont worry what Dreamweaver's workspace does to your design, its always throwing in crazy stuff.

Thought this might do well over here in the HTML Editors forum... Sounds like it's really more of a Dreamweaver question than anything to do with your graphics. :)
