Will only edit pages that have .extensions

Hi all

On a site i have all the links (articles.php) set up without extensions like this /articles i think it looks better, and the page extension is not important for the visitor.

My client will use Macromedia Contribute to edit the pages, but it wont edit the page if the .extension is lacking in the address bar.

Any possible solutions or will i have to put the .php back in all my links sitewide?
