non-editable region equiv in FP

newbie question

I've started to learn Dreamweaver and understand locked/uneditable regions.

What is the equivalent in Front page? Is it CSS, Themes, Shared Borders, Templates? I'm confused! I want something so that when I update a template page the locked regions update automatically in all the pages that use that template.

Could you be a little more specific? I'm familiar with FP, but not so much with Dreamweaver.
