I have no webmaster skills whatsoever and am learning by hook or by crook, so any help you can give is more than I know. I have searched your new user and general sections for this problem, but not found it.
I have recently created and posted a Frontpage 2000 website for my family's bookstore. I installed the Frontpage server extensions at the provider's websiteOS station, and the site works great.
Last week, I decided to add a search page, using the automated "add new page---choice, 'search page'" FrontPage component, for the visitors to use to search for products and services that the site offers. When I test it, by searching for a term, I get corresponding links, but I also get the usage stats for the website.
Is there anyway to tweak this automated page to leave out the user stats---they should be confidential--- or do I have to create "search" some other way?
I love reading the posts and your answers-it is extremely informative and fun.
Thanks, kwebber
I don't know the answer but I'll see if there are some others around with some ideas.
Good luck with the store.
I would look at the properties on the search component to see if there are any exclude filters available.
Or you could just ensure that the stats pages are only available with a username and password.
Yesterday I decided to view the site live in my browser instead of in FP or online. I was able to see the folder for the stats and hid them from public view. Now, the stats still come up as links, but visitors can no longer click into them.
However, I hate that they come up at all, because dead links are disappointing to readers. Old files whose names I have changed are dead too. Is a redirect the (only) way to deal with these? I have pulled them off the site, but they must still be in the index. I even uninstalled and reinstalled FP server through my provider's site, and resubmitted the entire site---dead pages still come up.
Does this arise from the FP server overriding the File Manager for my site at the provider's server? This is my first site and I have no background in website building.
I forget if I included the site of the problem: <snip>. Search result for the term <snip> will exemplify the problem.
Thanks again! I have already gleaned alot of useful info from this site.

A better bet would be Atomz.com free search. They crawl your site weekly, or you can create a crawl anytime you wish, manually. The serps resemble Google's.
They will allow 500 pages, but if you email them and ask, they will raise it to 1,000.
The free search is a little difficult to find on their site so I'll give you the direct link if the forum will allow.

Just scroll to the bottom of the page and give them your email address and that will get you started
