hope u are all having a pleasant evening.
an interesting question for the dreamweaver guru's...
i just opened up my dreamweaver program, and all my site definitions have vanished.
i run numerous sites in dreamweaver, and now have to go about defining all of them again!
pretty big job!
i have no idea why this happened? anyone experienced this before?
the documents are still in my folder, but dreamweaver is no longer pointing to them, and has deleted the site definitions?
HELP?
A word to the wise. Use the Site Definition exporter. If you use DW to work on a lot of sites this can be a real life saver when dissaster strikes. It is also helpfull when more than one person is working on a site in a group or when you use more than one machine. When we start a new site I fill out the defs then back them up to a file server. Then everone that needs to work on the site can just import the def. Not terrible helpfull to you right now, but in the future...

Have you managed to get the definitions back into DW. Which version is it?
I've had some very funny experience's with MX, in which i was re-organising all my site's, hence had to delete all the site definitions for the restructure, and once i had finished the re-org, and tried to add the new site locations MX, just crashed, tried absolutely everything including uninstalling, re-installing, checked at registry level for obvious associated files, but could not resolve the problem, hence built a new system, on a new hard disk, it seemed to be the only way to sort it out.
The fact that it all happened for you, when loading up a av program points at the av either reading something wrong, hence deleting the definitions. Not sure, need to know more about the DW version.
never had any probs with 3 or 4 along these lines, but MX is buggie, as yet i don't know if 6.1 is a complete resolution to the stability problems.
anyone?
I have used DreamWeaver for years, and have been getting this wipeout every 6 months or so.
Years of MS bugs made me too idle/cynical to try to solve the DW problem
I have now got the definitions saved. Never know when it might happen again.
My thanks for those with the tips
