DW user needs FP help w/site-search

FP site search engine replies with non-existent files

I'm strictly a DW Mac user on a Windows NT site with Front Page extensions installed. The only reason I can think of is to allow the FP site search tool to work, which it is not. It is returning nonexistent old pages.
As I understand it I either have to:
1. remove all the _vti folders from the site, and then ask the ISP to rerun the Index. (Time-consuming job)
2. Install a FP copy of the site on a PC, and use the FP "recalculate hyperlinks" tool on a regular basis. (another time-consuming job) or
3. Get a different site search tool w ASP scripts or provided by a third party (must be cheap:*).

I'm not sure about the process by which the recalculate links fixes this, nor much about IIS. Any advice on reducing the time in 1 or 2, or altrnative to FP search hotbot?

Thank you.
Bob

I like yourself am a DW man, so Frontpage is my most knowledgeable area.

Though reading what you've posted, 1 and 2 are the only options that i can see, basically switching the old url's out for new url's.
