Overlapping Text

Client sees overlapping keyword text in View Source

My client has been writing me frantically about a problem for almost two weeks and I cannot replicate the situation she is describing but she insists this is the situation. When she views her site in IE and clicks on "View Code" she sees her keywords in overlapping lines. I have never seen this (and I have tried everything to duplicate her experience). When I view code I see one long line of keywords separated by commas unless I turn on word wrap, then I see a block of keywords separated by commas. She is insisting it is something to do with Dreamweaver 4.

To put her at ease:

Will the search engines read the keywords if (as she says) the lines of text overlap?
What would cause the phenomenon she is describing?
Did I do something wrong?
Is Dreamweaver to blame?

Many Thanks,

Hmmm... the Meta Keyword and everything in it is pretty much irrelevant these days, so no real problem.

As to the cause of "doublevision"... try clearing the cache in "tools", "Internet options" and "delete files" and then refresh the opened page... just a guess though.

I HAVE seen this in dreamweaver.

However, what she is claiming would not be seen in dreamweaver - as she is using view source from the browser (unless that is set up as the editor or soemthing).

Code is code - it is not going to overlap.

The overlapping I have seen in dreamweaver is simply a display problem.

There is nothing to worry about - with regard to keywords overlapping. They are not overlapping when a SE looks at it.

I've experienced this firsthand, I imagine that it might be a bug in IE. Everytime I viewed source on certain websites, there would be a few lines of illegible overlapped text. Problem persisted until I re-installed the OS.

Dear All,

After sending my client some selections from your responses, the problem suddenly and mysteriously vanished.
