Dreamweaver's Synchronize Function Buggy?

Hi, I've been using Dreamweaver MX's 'Synchronize' function for years without any problems. Just recently, on one particular site, I'm unable to use this function. When I go to Synchronize > Entire Site after I've made some changes locally, it just scans and scans for files without doing anything. If I don't cancel, the connection disconnects automatically because it takes so long. This is only happening on one particular site. Is there anything on the remote end that could be causing this?

Thank you.

Try turning on the FTP log and see who spoke last - that may give you a bit of a clue.

I have known sites require active rather than passive FTP, and getting that round the wrong way (though why this should happen at this stage isn't clear) causes just what you describe.

Thanks Derek. I checked my logs but have no idea how to interpret them. Don't suppose you would know...

If anyone else is willing to take a look at the log and help me figure out how to fix this problem, I'd appreciate it.

Hello Scribble
I'm not at my web-authoring maachine right now so I can't see a typical log, but the FTP log consists of all the dialogue between Dreamweaver and the remote FTP server.
If your connection seems to stick, then the FTP log will tell you what the last thing was that was said. It's fairly straightforward to work out who said it, since your own computer is the master (initiator) of all dialogue.

For now, humour me and swap the active/passive FTP flag that you find in the EDIT SITES dialogue, and see if that makes any difference (it's set on a per-project basis, so just toggle it on the project that's broken).

BTW can you "get" individual files OFF the server back to your computer without a hang-up?
