I read in a post a while ago about someone losing the color coding for the source code in Dreamweaver MX 2004. I had the same problem a while ago, just randomly lost all color coding.
Anways, I put it down to an accidental keypress that toggles the syntax coding. If you've got the problem, do this:
Go to: View -> Code View Options -> Syntax Coloring
