Issues of buying your software in the US

... legal, technical, payment?

I am thinking of buying StudioMX 2004 from macromedia US site and was wondering if there were any issues that I should be aware of before doing so.

I don't want to use their UK virtual store because buying it from the US would allow me to save almost/more than £200 - using the strong pound value against the dollar's.

Any issues I should be aware of?
Anybody's been doing it successfully?

Thanks for your feedback.

There should be no legal issues. It's the same software to my knowledge.

The only issued is when the software is mailed to you there is a difference in the shipping charges. Also when it arrives in the UK, if the customs decide, it will be liable to VAT.

If customs charge you VAT, it will turn up with a VAT bill which must be paid to delivery agent.

Hi all,

I tried buying it (Studio MX) from the US but it's not possible - they refer me to the UK store (with UK prices :() when I enter my details.

I don't understand why, if I choose electronic download, the cost of the software should be so different.

Anyone experienced this?

le_gber,

That is the company protecting it's distributor network. Suggest you download the trial version and you will have that to use for 30? days. Then order the boxed software from an online store in the U.S. and have them ship it to you.

Again, be careful of VAT. I normally find if the sender puts "Gift" on the customs label it would normally get through.
