ftp transfer mode in DW

I can't seem to find where I can select ASCII mode in Dreamweaver. Is this possible or do I need to use another ftp program?

As far as I can tell, Dreamweaver "knows" to send ASCII files in ASCII and binary in binary.

Certainly I upload a whole mixed bag of bits in each ftp transfer to a variety of ISPs and none of them has given me a problem.

Dreamweaver automatically uploads in the correct format, only downside to using dreamweaver as an ftp client is it will upload the page and then any graphics, if you have the same graphics on all the pages of your site which you do as the logo, it will upload the same graphic over and over again.

Good in some ways at it makes sure all your graphics are uploaded but the time it takes is painfully slow

its an excellent tool while you are still learning but for speed use a FTP program

Certainly, in DW MX 2004, dependent files are only uploaded if you wish them to be. You can ask for this to be done by default, if you wish, by checking the appropriate box in the dialog box when you upload. You can restore the option by holding down the Alt key (Windoze), or or Option (Macintosh) whilst selecting Get, Put, Check In, or Check Out.

DW uses a configuration text file to determine which files to upload in ascii or binary. I'm sorry but I don't recall the location or file name, but I know I just edited it a few days ago to tell it to use ascii mode for *.db files.
