Hi,

I just noticed that my site has been pounded by this IP

212.70-84-38.reverse.theplanet.com

Is this something to worry about? I did a whois which comes up with nothing. How would I block this and do I need to?

Thanks!

Boog

If you are hosted by them or perhaps by one of their daughter companies (e.g., ServerMatrix), it may just be a test to see if your site is up, and then I wouldn't worry about it. (Are they pinging or requesting pages?)

If not, it may be a site hosted by them that is requesting your data --could be a scraper, a search engine, or something else still... Best course of action would depend on the details of your case, IMO!

Thanks for the info Eltiti.

We're not hosted by them. It looks like they hit every single page on my site, then came back for the pages I added this month.

They hit my site 593 times and accessed 526 files in two visits, and I don't have a large site. I blocked the IP.
Was that the right thing to do you think?

Thank you!

Keep it blocked, Boogalou.

There is no need to let private bots scrape your pages, and ThePlanet sometimes seems to have some strange server hosting customers ...
I have blocked some of their IP address ranges to protect my sites.

R.
