3. The time-savings that some software promises is not as great as they imply. To get an effective listing, you need to understand each engine or directory and customize the submission. For example, the DMOZ directory has a complicated hierarchy, and you need to identify where in that hierarchy your site fits (eg, Manufacturers=>Widgets=>Small=>Steel).
4) Most of 1,326,862 sites that the software submits to are pretty minor. I believe that it is better to individually submit to the major engines and directories, and then get links in high traffic/authority sites relevant to your site.
I would just make a list of places worth submitting to, and just go do the list - one a day, or as many as you can do in 1 hour a day, or whatever suits you. It won't take that long.
