Factoids:

Nearly half of searchers use a search engine no more than a few times a week, and two-thirds say they could walk away from search engines without upsetting their lives very much....

Only 38% of users are aware of the distinction between paid or "sponsored" results and unpaid results.

Ha, was just about to post that - good study.
And I could have told anyone this:
Internet users behave conservatively as searchers: They tend to settle quickly on a single search engine and then stick with it, rather than switching as search technology evolves or comparing results from different search systems.

This is why owning "keyword.com" will always be extremely valuable.

Unfortunately it also bodes well for MSN Search over Goog or Yahoo, because MSN Search is bundled in with the monopoly browser/OS (regardless that it sux on several levels). Survey implies most folks won't venture or switch away from the default they've been supplied.
