I have a meeting tomorrow with an existing client who wants me to propose why it is they should invest in my consulting services in regard to search engine optimization and marketing.

While I have been offering this service for over a year now, I would love to have a link to a list of reasons why it is important to invest in SEO and SEM as a small business owner.

Most of the information at my disposal seems to assume that everyone wants search engine optimization. But how do you monetize the investment and compare that to doing nothing at all?

TIA for any links to discussions on this top or to relevant resources.

Might be late for your meeting considering the post date, but here's some advice for anyone reading this in the future.

- Beat out competitors. Sell to the client's ego, this works! To be #1 in any way is worth something in business.
- After the initial investment, SE traffic is relatively free compared to ads and whatnot.
- 80%+ people use search engines daily.
- Mention the number of searches on relevant keywords. Tell them if they were #1 they could reap clicks off of at least 50% of those searches.
- Tell them you are a pro and in-house SEO isn't as focused as you will be.
- Tell them how many hours you will spend per week focused on them. This will give them assurance that you will be doing valuable work.

You can take it from there :)
