Title tags case sensitive?

case sensitive in Google? how to deal with it?

Greetings..

In my research learning about keywords in title tags, I have noticed that upper and lower case title tags matter in google positioning. Is this true?

Example (will use Widgets):
----------------------------------------------
1.) Widget Tools Outlet
This would show a number 2 position about where I would like it placed.

2.) widget tools outlet
This does not show at all where I would like it, and infact it shows pages back.

So clearly search engines (at least Google) are case sensitive right?

If this is the case... Then what are people most likely to use searching. Upper case letters or lower case? What combinations are best to use?

Widget Tools Outlet
widget tools outlet
Widget tools outlet
Widget-tools-outlet
on... and on...

What is the best way to deal with this... I have not had much luck in finding resources on this. Anything would be a great start...

Thanks!

That would be rather strange, since Google claims that case does not matter. [google.com...]

I never experienced any differences either.

I've never seen any evidence that it matters.. but most tend to type all lower (except my lunatic cousin that has this thing for the cap lock key). I tend to just use proper grammer.. cap the first letter of the first word, proper names, etc.

Hi eboda,

I tried your examples :

www.google.com/search?q=widget+tools+outlet
www.google.com/search?q=Widget+Tools+Outlet

SERPs are identical to me.

Are you using the same computer/browser/isp for each query?

I have tried different computers with same results, as well with different IP.

This strikes me odd as well. I don't want to post my own sites on here to show proof of this. But I do show on Google this does matter in 2 cases I have here...

I have noticed this over the last 5 months. I have been giving Google time to see if they list my sites in lower case before posting this here. But no such luck yet.

So by default... would lower case be the way to go? What do others use as the default here?

Macguru,

I forgot to agree with you on Google. It should not matter - I have confirmed with other examples and have not been able to duplicate it. Perhaps there is something I am doing?

Maybe I should make my defaults lowercase..
