Where do people click most?

Are there any studies done on this?

Does anybody know where I can find some stats to find out where people click after performing the search? I know the average click through rate on a banner is about 1.5%. Has anybody seen a study that has broken it down by SE?

Example for Yahoo: On average what is the % of people click the banner at top. % of people who click the sponsored results. % who click the web page matches or click on the directory results, what about the ads to the right?

Does it vary from SE to SE? Are people more inclined to click the Lycos banner because it appears below the search box?

Anybody seen a study done on this? Would be interseting ...

I haven't seen any recent studies on the type of click-thru data you are searching for. Plus, I do not have accounts with any of the ratings/media companies who report such things.

I have seen a few stats posted on some sites but, as usual, they do not credit the sources so who knows if they invented those numbers for marketing purposes.

Unless someone else chimes in with a nice report, I can only recommend digging around some more.

You might be able to find a few stats in reports from University/Company-based research projects. There is always someone polling this type of data in order to build a proposal.

Here is a great place to start. Their search system does not always pull up everything, so use Google's site search if you have to.

Or you can try...

Also, check around all the major data collecting / media ratings companies, like Media Metrix. You might be able to grab a few stat samples that are left in the open.
