I was wondering what effect this would have.
On one side, it reduces Google's visibility among those who use a Meta Search.
On the other hand people may stop using the meta search engine as what is perceived as the most relevant engine is not there, or people will also do a search on Google as well. (at least experienced Searchers)
More importantly, people may feel more inclined to come to a commercial agreement with them, as selling on the database must be Google's main revenue stream (by a long way)
I guess it only works in google's favour if they are happy with their exposure already making the first side of the logic less important. Maybe google feels they have enough exposure now (an understandable view)
Any way thought it useful to discuss whether members think this is a good or not (from Google's perspective), or do Meta Search engines not really matter at the end of the day.
(PS: I dont run a SE, meta or otherwise - just an interested Searcher and one interested in SE corporate strategy)
