Hi all!

Everybody knows that the title TAG is the most important place where put relevant keywords.

But what about puntuaction?
Does it influence the ranking of some words?

For example, what could be the difference in ranking using these different puntuaction for the same words in the title?

Tennis Shoes. For all purposes

Tennis Shoes: for all purposes

Tennis Shoes - for all purposes

Tennis Shoes, for all purposes

Thank you1

Angiolo,

I am not too sure on this topic, but it is to 'my' understanding that the different punctuation does not play a role in this. I am remembering a thread where we were talking about keywords, and I believe it was either Oilman or Brett who was saying that they don't use commas in the keywords so that the spiders and bots would be able to mix the keywords together and get better combos.

I tend to think that it is more the fact that you put any punctuation in the title.

I just tried to find that thread I referred to, but I think that it has been taken out of the forum.

Hope I helped

Hi Angiolo, I agree with the above advice - it shouldn't matter too much from a search engine perspective what punctuation you use, as long as you don't use symbols such as "?", "@" and "=".

I used to use the equal sign in my titles, but have since learnt that some engines will come across symbols and stop spidering. But the versions you supplied look ok to me.

Remember that your title will display across the top of a viewer's browser, so it might be best to use the version with the hyphen, as it is the easiest to read.
