ok... assumption:
* that DASHES are in, and UNDERSCORES are out.
* DASHES are better than making one long word (/oranges-apples/ as opposed to /orangesapples/)

QUESTION:
what about "and"? use or it not? or does it make a difference?

assuming: conjunctioned phrase couldn't be reasonably separated into two differnt pages or folders. like for industry or technical terms. This occurs A LOT for corporate sites where standard terms are like: Modeling-and-Analysis, or merge-and-purge-database-analysis

thus, I WANT to use it, but it quickly creates situations where lots of dashes would be needed, but I don't want to get penalized for it. is that a reasonable concern? its not spam as it is real terms with real needs for "and". 4 or 5 dashes with long technical names...is that bad?

www.example.com/service/servicetypeA-and-servicetypeB.htm (or something)

ie: (fictional example)
A) www.example.com/products-and-services/management-and-consulting.htm
or
B) www.example.com/products-services/management-consulting.htm

Problem is....with B, the meaning actually is NOT correct in its raw sense without the "and". and again, there could easily be casees where 4 or 5 dashes are NEEDED to actually spell out the whole industry term. (can't think of good example...so just take my word for it).

so to fret or not to fret about it? From an SEO or even SEM perspective, does it matter?

* this is in reference to folders, subfolders, files/pages not the DOMAIN name itself.

You're creating a problem for nothing:
Use liberally "and";for Ses it doesn'tmake any difference:theysimply ignore it, and you keep the sense intact.
