How do I find authority sites, are there any good tools avilable.

One way is of cource to search for a term, say entertainment and then looking at the top ranked sites. But is there any other smart ways, maby searches ~like ~entertainment?

Go search where authority starts. Look in the Google Directory (not web search) under your category, same info as DMOZ but sorted for importance. Check the Yahoo! directory.

Find relevant articles on wikipedia, follow the weblinks at the bottom.

Use specialty search engines that cluster results or show them visually to see what's at the center of a web on a subject. Try clusty.com or vivisimo.com for clustering, Kartoo.com for visual organization. Try it for a subject you know well to see how it works. Kartoo will show you the dozen most relevant, interlinked sites on a subject in seconds.
