Just read in the Alta Forum at Search Engine Forums that Goto is banning some of their clients from having their goto listing on Alta Vista. Has anyone heard anthing about this?

You are correct.
Remember that it will take 3 to 5 days for changes.
Bid changes are on the fly.

NOTE: When managing your account, check to be sure you leave no $ on the table.
Reduce bids when the same amount will leave you in the same postion.
imo - never use the make all my bids #1 button.
If you don't have the term on your page but it is relevant - make a page.
Example: you sell used cars
Term = Used Honda or 1998 honda
Depending on the editor you may be rejected [nice Email] if the word Honda is not on the page.

Hi Mike

When you say leave no money on the table do you mean just in case GoTo goes belly up and out of business. I will only put $50 at a time. Already have 10 nice 1 cent listings picked out and last month these 10 where searched about 900 times. I assume the reason that some people were banned from AV was that there pages were not consistent with the search terms they were listed under. Thanks.

Example:
For whatever reason YOU BID 10 cents on a term to beat the guy/gal who bid 9.
Check back every so often because that bidder may run their account to zero and
you could maintain the same position for 9 or even 5 cents.

NOTE: If you do run your account to zero, you will loose any tie bid advanage.

I think the AV ban has something to do with pre-existing contracts for keywords. GoTo couldn't come in and compete with those. I saw "travel" mentioned, but details have been hard to come by.
