Hi all ...ya im new.
Signed up for both overture and adword. My company is B2B and i have only 1 competitor on both services. On overture, him and i are battling it out at $.05 cents. He is at $.01cent. I can see what his price is so it seems fair. BUT on google adword i cant see what he is bidding...it just tells me that my clicks are costing me $2.50 each.
Its the same competitor from overture. Why doesnt google show me what he is bidding?? It seems like they could just make it up. Why would he bid 1 cent on overture and over $2.50 per click on adword?? The overture ad seems to show up everywhere but google is just google..am i right? Any thoughts?? Also B2B seems hard because the regular consumers come in and run your clicks up...

Welcome to WebMasterWorld!

Don't jump to the conclusion that your competitor is bidding over $2.50 just because he is on top. That's because your adwords position depends on the combination of Click through rate and keyword bid price.

Check (4. Position) under [adwords.google.com...]

You'll never know - your competitor maybe paying $1.00 per click but might be having a CTR of 10%. In that case, your competitor's rank would be 10.

What is your overall CTR? Multiply that with $2.5 and you will get your score. Run the campaigns for a couple of days and see if you can beat your competitor. If not, either raise your CPC or your CTR. I don't suggest that you increase your CPC because you are paying way too much already.

Read Google AdWords manual thoroughly.

Good Luck!

And as for Goverture....the 1cent click is a grandfathered rate from the old days....if he modifies it now he will never get it that cheap again, it is nowadays a 5 cents minimum
