I'm not sure if anyone has been paying attention to Quigo Technologies, but they've just launched their meta search engine at flipper.com. They also have a PPC program which I have not investigated just yet.

I'm currently seeing results from Ah-Ha, Teoma and DMOZ.

I like the site design, however it is kind of cluttered at the top as far as design is concerned. (: Im @ the top of all my keywords currently since its teoma and dmoz for the most part. but I like the color schemes.

good design, all very clear where things come from.

the drop down box at the top is kind of strange, multiple results from the same site shown that way? It seems to be mostly ebay et al.

that top part is a little confusing

Flipper offers several unique features that help users find the information they are seeking faster. One of the features is the unique grouping of Deep Web search results. Relevant search results from a specific website are grouped together, enabling Flipper to display dozens of relevant search results in a single line of text. This is achieved by placing a drop-down list with multiple options within the search result title.

You know, I've been keeping an eye on this one since they first surfaced way back when. They were in limbo for quite some time and their official launch was today 04.22.2002.

It sounds like we have another player ready to rumble?!

P.S. Maybe this should be moved to the Breaking Search Engine News forum?

Im not sure that all the positive enthusiaam over new "search engines" or ones that have been around for a while and "re-found" could be attributed to our desparation to see any slight glimmer of hope in this "Google all the time" world!

Many of them rely on PPC, ODP, after all the verbiage and "gloss". Same goes for later and flipper

There are some interesting new ones for sure as exceptions, (thinking of antartica and some of the map-based ones) and teoma and all the web are now more well established. Making a search engine is easy. Making a good one takes a lot of investment, - rehashing results and trying to finance it by PPC has limited appeal.

I think its nice to leave unlinked references to "new" search engines which seem a little "suss". (eg: new users using marketing copy who havent been involved in other discussions). Then we can visit (if we have spare time) and give an objective review!

lise23 dont get too upset!

Think of discussion boards as groups of people. Generally the more people know others the more they understand "where they are coming from", their strengths, and credibility from previous posts.

You just popped up from nowhere - and asked us to look at some sites. Its like being a newbie at a party and asking people to go outside and look at something! Some may even wonder whether its a trick as they dont know you and dont know how much credibility to put in your statements. II'd say your reception here has been quite civil, and much kinder than how you would have been treated at that party...

lise, I think the prevailing word in this word is neutrality...may the best search engine win :) on its own merits

Remember that thread about WOM....and a small mention I made about negative WOM? I dont know if its applicable....I certainly know im not capable of making a decent search engine :)

For me, it will be good to keep an eye on this engine, as I have never done PPC.......at least I can see what its like from the beginning and "map" out how things go :)
