Hi

Has anyone used Inktomi's index Connect service. If so I'd love to hear your experience.

From what I know it costs $500 to set up and the average CPC is $0.25. This is low compared to our keywords on Overture and high compared to Google. By advertising on Google, Overture and Inktomi will we get broad exposure?

We also advertise with LookSmart although I'm calling for a Boycott, I can't believe thier charges, scandolous! :o - Ian

Hi ian and welcome to Webmaster World. Thanks for your post. I personally haven't used the service. You will probably get answers from all over the spectrum. As with any service or engine these days folks seem to either love them or hate them.

Let's see if a little bump of your post will generate an answer.

Ian,

If you go through an Authorized Index Connect partner, you may not incur the set up fees.

Contact me via sticky mail, if you want more information.

Yes, you can go through PT with no setup fees. They have Position Pro which from what they said will prep a site for the IC program. Cost on that is a few hundred bucks I think.

In light of Google taking over AOL, the effective CPC for IC will go up because according to PT, AOL did not faciliate tracking of clicks very well in AOL. Exposure will also go down, assuming AOL will no longer show Ink results after the change.
