Rumor from good source - Overture has its own bid management system in beta.

It may flop if lots of people are looking for a service that will cover multiple engines, which this probably won't. Then again Overture could block 3rd parties from the system, depending on the agreements made with the currently approves tools.

The rumor is good. I heard it also at the Overture luncheon in Boston a few weeks back.
You are correct in that this may impact third party software in some way, however approved vendors already have to seperate out other PPC engines as part of the agreement with OV.

I wonder if Overture's bid management tool will be limited to 6 updates per keyword per day, like other tools. I somehow doubt they will limit themselves. In that case, other bid tools will be almost useless.

Another thing I wonder with their new tool: How can Overture keep its own interests and its customers' interests balanced. e.g., If I set my max bid at $1, and so did 3 other people, but the 5th bidder says his/her max is $0.75, would the bids be:

1. $1
2. $0.99
3. $0.98
4. $0.97
5. $0.75
and so on...

or

1. $0.79
2. $0.78
3. $0.77
4. $0.76
5. $0.75

I guess we shall find out soon...

My guess is that it will be a high end premium offer with a prohibitively high minimum monthly spend, and not limited. But thats all it is, a guess.

Espotting already have their own bid management system in Europe which launched last month.

It works much the same as described above - it keeps your bid 1p above those below you and closes bid gaps. You can choose to appear in a specific position. It's priced on a sliding scale dependant on number of keywords.

Does anybody know when Overture's launches in the US and if they will be launching it soon in Europe ?
