Some dude at Ah-Ha just called me and tried to sell me skyscrapers on AV and LS et al. Anybody tried them out? $10 CPM seems way outta line to me unless they're producing a decent click thru.

I dunno, if they are skyscrapers that are targetted to certain queries, it might be pretty good - remember google charged as much as $15 CPM for smaller such ads and those were in competition.

Some of the networks charge a lot more than $10 for skyscrapers and certainly don't offer any keyword targeting (if that's included in the price) - sounds quite cheap to me.

Ha...they found you at WMW.

I guess it's just marketing but it seems to get so intrusive.

Case in point: A while ago I was thinking of a setting up a Kanoodle account, but bailed because I didn't have enough good information on them and didn't feel it would make any money back. A day later I get an email saying "Hi, we saw you started to create an account.....call us....".

I really felt that was both great service/completely uncalled for and unsolicited.

Spam or good service? either way I never actually signed up an account, and with tactics like that I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble.

On another note Findwhat was great, pretty good customer service as well....although the second my account was low I was flooded with emails telling me "your account is low, here's a link to add more cash".

If you're looking into setting up a ppc account, make sure you do a little research and keep in mind you may hear from them often whether you liked the service or not.

Well taking the side of the ppc engines. I have to say, well one reason why you get tons of emails saying your account is low is cus people forget. Its true, they forget especially if they are on tons of search engines, and then later they call you up and say "why didnt you tell me my account was low" or they say "you engine doesnt get me any traffic" which alot of times its just cus they havent had any money in the account. You would be surprise what we get the blame for. So Its more like a friendly reminder.

I can see why the reminders are sent. My problem is not everyone is going to appreciate the constant reminders.

For instance. I've taken my car into a toyota dealership, they've conviently sent me an oil change notice every 3 months. Now some might appreciate that, but, I feel it's none of their business....considering I've never had my oil changed there.

Companies grab and hold on to any connection to possible future revenue, and often use the "convenient reminder" guise to pass off more marketing propaganda. I see it as a thinly veiled permission based spamming tactic.
