Why did Overture remove the search box from the home page?

If I click search it shows up as a bad search. What gives?

Works for me...Maybe it's an Opera thing ;)

Ya, it's definitely an Overture thing. Wow. That's a pretty major site to make such an amateur mistake.

This snip (23k) is what I'm seeing. No search box in sight:
[webmasterworld.com...]

Agent Sniffers! They are agent cloaking!

Switch your agent name to Mozilla (f12->mozilla) and it comes up.

Sure enough. Wonder if Google will penalize them...

Interesting, same effect on Linux.
The only thing I can spot in the HTML is that they have parts of the form (but not the text entry) outside the <td></td> bracket. Definitively bad coding, but surprising result nonetheless.

<add>ok, I'm blind, the input field is actually missing for Opera ;)</add>

I guess they figure opera users are to savy to even consider overture as a search tool, and only are using it as a reseach tool. :)

Just goes to show you. If you are going to cloak, hire a professional ;-)

That's a really good example of how NOT to cloak.

Someone mentioned out of the box solutions as "easy enough" in another thread.

After wading through numerous sites that fouled those "solutions" up I had to reign in the desire to point out all the aspects involved. I settled for a few points and let it go.

Cloaking, is not an "easy" way out.
