But now that I am on the Google PPC system...I am thinking about changing my strategy. What if I advertise the worst part of my company? My prices are higher than a lot of my competitors. Why not advertise that? In a positive way, I mean. Something like "Web hosting for only $x.xx!" If 90% of the people who leave my site do so because of the price, then why pay for those clicks? May as well turn them off before they even click.
I am sure this has been thought of many times before, but I was hoping to get your thoughts. Any downsides to this strategy?
however, with Google's new program, that strategy will not work quite as well because they are factoring clickthrus as well as bid prices to determine your position.
With that format, your ad will take a hit in its position if you use descriptions that discourage clickthrus. You can compensate for low clickthrus by increasing your bids, but you will end up paying quite a bit more per click, so Google will end up the winner either way. :(
