Has anyone tried running foreign keywords and phrases with Overture.com? Will they let you?

YES

Both Overture & FindWhat will allow it - I think
Be very careful because their sytems MAY drop special characters like ñ which you will have to replace as n

We're in the process of translating the site into various languages, so it seemed a good idea to do all the "behind the scenes" stuff aswell. Can't see that it would hurt, and some of the top ranking English keywords are dead cheap in foreign languages!

I grandfathered in a bunch of non-English keyword bids on GoTo at .01...none of which bring more than a couple of clicks a month. I added all of my main keywords in German, French, Spanish, and Portuguese.

There was a thread started by rencke back in July entitled:

Translations will get you top rankings in major engines.
This could be the secret of global marketing for next to nothing

You can start here [webmasterworld.com] and check it all out. It's pretty convincing, well worth a second read.

Very intersting thread.

It's already turning into a lot of work for us, translating a site is scary business! But I'm glad I read that thread since it certainly makes it clear that it should be worth it.

>foreign keyword, any value?
YOU BET!

Being from Europe "foreign" keywords is THE business. The main part of my clients do business on local markets and local keywords in the #1 way for them to go. They don't need american visitors entering their sites and not being able to buy their products.

May I point you to ongoing thread about a European PPC/SEO case [webmasterworld.com] being implemented as we speak.

>Multi-language marketing never ocurred to me

Well, what can we say? Should be an eyeopener then ;)
