Why would Overture reject new keyword bids?

Are they rich enough already!

I don't understand why Overture would reject perfectly valid bids.

All 11 of my new keywords were rejected - AND I GOT ALL OF THEM FROM THEIR KEYWORD SUGGESTION TOOL!

I figured it was just a lazy individual who wasn't doing her job properly but I hear that I am not the only one who has had this problem.

Is their database full? Are they running out of things to spend their money on?

It doesn't make sense. They seem to be turning away money.

WHAT IS GOING ON?

Same thing here...makes no sense. Their customer service was quite haughty as well, an indication of fleeting success.

Success flys away when you get too good for your clients.

I would suggest complaining not only to overture but their "partners" as well.

BTW, I am soon going to unveil a new webmaster campaign called "nickel day", details coming soon.

Were these keywords adult in nature? If so, that is why.

if not, is your site's content relevent to your keywords?

They try to do a good job making sure you just can't bid on things that are of no relevence to your site, and rightly so. If users get bad results, they leave for good.

So if your key phrase was say camera lens, then your site has to be about camera lenses and possible sell them or have links to sell them.

Also you might want to try and re-submit to see if you get a different reviewer.

There should be a reason cited in the email they sent you. Might only be one line and it would be near the end. I've found they always provide a reason for rejecting the kws. What did they actually tell you?

Hi Infopub,

No my site and keywords are certainly not adult in content! They are totally relevant ('vacation rentals in maui' for a maui vacation rental website for example!). And the automatically-generated reasons they gave for rejection really don't apply.

I did re-submit just a few of them and got NO RESPONSE WHATSOEVER.

I will telephone them when I get time. Will keep you posted on the reponse.

"I did re-submit just a few of them and got NO RESPONSE WHATSOEVER"

You need to reply to the email they sent you. They will then send you a form to fill out and send back. This is supposedly (or so they say) the only way they will take appeals...

If it's the site in your profile, it's already showing up (on Overture at least) for the term you mentioned. Did you submit a different site/url??

Hi Web Guerrilla,
Actually the term I meant to refer to was 'vacation rentals maui' which produces completely different results from 'maui vacation rentals'.
They rejected the term because of 'clarity and space' even though my description was the same as that for 'maui vacation rentals' (yes, I know they have become stricter recently but I believe my description is clear and it is within the allowed no. of characters).

They also rejected 'maui north shore accommodation' and 'upcountry maui accommodation' giving the General/Specific reason. These regions are very specific to our location.

Most other rejections were because of 'clarity and space' For instance:

keyword:'maui vacation rental homes'
'Ho'okipa Hale - Maui Vacation Rental Homes'
Maui vacation rental homes - 2-bed cottage, 1-bed apartment and vacation rooms on two acres in Haiku. Secluded and peaceful, near north shore beaches and convenient to Hana and Haleakala.

Of course I need to take this up with them and I will.
