I've been seeing some really odd referer strings from Overture.

EXAMPLE:
search [www3.overture.com] (mouse over)

Does anyone know what that is all about?

It's session tracking and click through url encoding. It defeats bogus clicks. Go do a search and mouse over the click through urls. They've been encoded/encrypted for some time now. They limit the click through time that way so that clicks that come after the time limit get tossed out. That stops people from putting click through urls on webpages and such to foil competition.
