GoTo's dance card?

I need a separate computer just the keep track of which SE partner is doing what to whom. The matrix is getting very complex (remember that three dimensional chess game in Star Trek?).

Currently, GoTo has announced PPC deals with......

AOL and....

hotbot and ....

What is interesting is how hard it is to find a list of *all* GoTo "partners", do they have a few cousins in the attic?

the question is do you want to take the red pill or the blue one, I'll go for blue pill any day of the week.

So that's Alta Vista, Lycos, HotBot plus the already established AOL and Netscape.

The GoTo front page also mentions a partnership with Microsoft Internet Explorer and Earthlink. Anyone know the details on those, especially MSIE? GoTo on every desktop?

Ask Jeeves (The part at the bottom where it says "I have also found these sites through other search engines" appear to come from GoTo.)

>Anyone know the details on those, especially MSIE? GoTo on every desktop?

When you click on the Search button on MSIE, you currently see a field which says:

"Find a Web page containing" above it and "Brought to you by MSN Search" below it.

My assumption would be that this is what is being referred to.

As for the Earthlink deal, if you go to Earthlink's site [earthlink.com], you can already see GoTo's logo at the top.

I am currently changing my business model and pricing structure to accommodate the hostage situation which I formerly counseled clients not to use.

Just remember: There IS no spoon.

I've getting referrals from "searchengines" that are just repackaging GoTo. Here's one

[sureseeker.com...]

Earthlink is fairly regular, as is Mindsping (aren't they the same, now?)
[goto.com...]

You're right Mike*, Dogpile has GoTo as the first category of returns.

Mamma.com is polling GoTo, but I can't determine if the "Mamma recommends" section at the top is Jeeves or GoTo

YUP Ask Jeeves is at the TOP
A #1 listing at goto is #3 at [mamma.com...]
A #1 listing at findwhat is #14 at [mamma.com...]

It is CLEAR TO ME that we need a goto.com person to visit here.
At another place I was unable to get a knowledgeable person to get involved.
gotoGUY just kept sending me to their PR people in New York.
*HELP*

Compuserve, the isp that was bought by AOL, uses goto.com, at their site, cs.com...

Wow, the partner list grows, and grows, doesn't it?

is freeserve going to supplement with INK?

makemetop

Freeserve is now just showing the uk goto DB, the paid results and then their (uk goto's) back up Inktomi results (which appear filtered for the UK).

>the real question is: how fast can you burn $100 on Goto?
>
With the notable exception of the metas, particularly Dogpile and Mamma, if you don't bid up to the top 3 slot, you get no real benefit from all of this partnering GoTo is doing. So the .01 bids are only going to be shown on GoTo itself, the repackagers, and the metas on competitive kws. On those, your C-note could linger awhile. On $2 words, you might last a nanosecond.

Okay, this is my take on the GoTo partnerships. Does anyone have any information that's not on here or is contradictory?

[list]AOL: The top 3 GoTo results show at the top of each AOL results page, labeled "Sponsored Links." So a #1 listing in GoTo amounts to a #1 listing in AOL.

[list]Netscape: The top 2 GoTo results show at the top of each Netscape Search results page, labeled "Partner Search Results." So a #1 listing in GoTo amounts to a #1 listing on Netscape.

[list]AltaVista: It has been announced that the top 5 GoTo results will show at the top of each AltaVista results page.So a #1 listing in GoTo will amount to a #1 listing on AltaVista.

[list]Lycos: GoTo and Lycos have announced a similar partnership to be implemented "very soon."

[list]HotBot: GoTo and HotBot have announced a similar partnership to be implemented "very soon."

[list]Ask Jeeves: The section at the bottom of Ask Jeeves, where it says "I have also found these sites through other search engines" are from GoTo.

[list]MicroSoft Internet Explorer: GoTo and MicroSoft have announced a similar partnership to be implemented "very soon." It is thought that when a MS Internet Explorer user clicks on the search button on the browser, the results will be, to some as yet unknown extent, from GoTo.

[list]Earthlink/Mindspring: The start page for these merged ISPs uses GoTo for its searches.

[list]Dogpile: The top 10 GoTo listings are among the first group of listings at Dogpile.com.

[list]Mamma.com: The top GoTo results show at the top of each Mamma results page, labeled "Mamma Recommends." So a #1 listing in GoTo amounts to a #1 listing on Mamma.com.

[list]NBCi: The section at the top of NBCi, where it says "Search Marketplace" are all from GoTo.

[list]MSN's BCentral: GoTo and MSN have announced a similar partnership.

[list]CompuServe: The GoTo results show as "Premium Web Pages" at the top of each results page.So a #1 listing in GoTo amounts to a #1 listing on CompuServe.

Two progress reports on your list, Laisha.

1) HotBot is already showing GoTo results. The top three are in a separate "sponsored" section at the top of the page. And, in a rather innovative move, the fourth GoTo listing is sandwiched in between position 9 and 10 in the regular returns.

2) Alta says they will be including a "more like this" tab which will give a full page of GoTo results. Their announced start date was today, but it isn't happening yet.

Thanks, Tedster. Noted. I will fix them on my new page tomorrow...hopefully after AV implements.
