Catch-all keywords

Too good to be true?

Hi - Do any of the major PPC SE offer a "catch-all" facility whereby your site can be listed if no other site is listed for a particular keyword? We need to promote our own SE a bit but there are no particularly good targetted keywords, so we were going to plump for a "match anything so long as it's cheap"

Cheers

Hi Carl; none that I am aware of - that is an interesting idea thought for those wanting raw traffic.

I remember about 1.5 yeas ago ebay was buying an enormous spread from goto. Any kw that was at all related to the products in their auction were bought up. I wonder if they brokered a special deal along those lines?

Hi, It would be interesting to find out. I have a couple of contacts at goto that may be worth a phone call now (poor things!), I think I will do a little research though now since it seems to me like a good way to get a fairly carte blanche exposure with a fairly minimal outlay. But like I say, it's probably too good to be true!

Hi Carl, etal.

I'm surprised that noone else has heard of this feature on any pay per click search engines.

Maybe you haven't visited the pages of my site enough. ;p

Although not major, [Orura.com...] and [ToTheExtreme.com...] both have this "catch-all" facility Carl describes.

Some other pay per click search engines offer the ability to advertise on all searches, whether they're legible or just jargon.

I'm not sure of any search engines that do this, though, and I doubt they would have it advertised. Maybe you could contact a few of your favorites and ask them about this or a catch-all listing.

I'm sure you will have at least some luck.

I hope that helps.

Apparently goto do or did something like this - I spoke briefly to goto this morning, but am awaiting more information.
