Granted, I posted after I read the other thread, but I felt it "fit in" with the rest of the engines information. :)
Ink lost one partner, and this means that there is one less place to find actual search engine results, instead of bought and paid for advertisements. Even though I'm not a big fan of Inktomi's version of relevance, I do agree that they are an important piece of the puzzle.
I only hope that these "hypotheticals" about MSN and AOL don't happen. Siesmic shifts, I like that one.
Jeremy, I understand your prospective and it is an ever shrinking playing field (I'm referring to pure SEO, not ppc or pfp) that we have to work with. However, in my opinion this is no great loss. Inktomi has it's own money extraction scams, and the corporate ppc plan of Inktomi is about the worse thing possible for SEOs.
In my opinion, anything that is bad for inktomi is good for SEOs in the long term.
Actually, I can't even manage to get my site listed on AV ... so your "food for thought" is very frightening indeed. Perhaps I should go back to selling boats and just leave you guys to deal with all this stuff. Its more than a bit beyond me and I truly can't understand how anyone is supposed to keep up with it all!
A "little" knowledge can be a dangerous thing ... what does a lot of knowledge amount to in a situation such as this? I hesitate to even think about it. At this stage, I believe a hearty game of pin the tail on the donkey offers every bit as much hope to advance your site as any other method available these days!
I think what all of you do is amazing. I am sooooo confused!
