Exactly where do you want to place in Goto?

I made this chart at work for my company. I have gotten so much from these forums, that I wanted to post the chart here to give a little back. Someone else posted the list here or on another board of search engines, I just expanded on it. I hope this might be useful to some of you. Let me know if I need to add or subtract anything from it. The numbers are not 100% accurate, but they are close.

Goto.com Total visitors in March: 9,144,000 visitors.

Listings from Goto appear on the following engines: (number listed is total number of customers for March that visited the Engine).

Top 2 listings on Goto gets us listed on the following engines -
Netscape – Top 2 at very top of listings. 12,733,000 visitors.

Total if listed 2nd on Goto.com: 117,293,000 visitors.

Top 3 listings on Goto gets us listed on the following engines -
Direct Hit – Top 3 at very top of page. 2,340,000 visitors.
AOL – Top 3 at very top just below one AoL hit. 48,392,000 visitors.
Lycos – Top 3 at top of page. 11,977,000 visitors.
Hotbot – Top 3 at top of page. 202,000 Visitors.
Microsoft IE(browser search button of some sort) – Top 3, under 4 results from another engine. Unknown # of visitors.

Total if listed 3rd on Goto.com: 104,560,000 visitors.

Top 5 listings on Goto gets us listed on the following engines -
CNET.com – Top 5 in a small box on lower right side. 6,409,000 visitors.
Search.com – Top 5 at top of page. 1,462,000 visitors.
AltaVista – Top 5. Below 2 results from another engine. 7,246,000 visitors.

Total if listed 5th on Goto.com: 41,649,000 visitors.

Iwon – Top 7 at top of page. 5,702,000 visitors.
NBCi.com – Top 8 on right side of page. 10,652,000 visitors.
Dogpile – Top 10 listings. 2nd category below top 5 Looksmart listings. 3,087,000 visitors.
411web.com – Top 10. Whole page. 129,000 visitors.
Searchalot.com – Top 19 at top of page. 230,000 visitors.
Mindpsring/Earthlink – All goto results. 1,850,000 visitors.
Go2Net – Random. Results are from numerous engines including Goto. 319,000 visitors.
Metacrawler – Random. Results are from numerous engines including Goto. 1,061,000 visitors.
Ask Jeeves – Small link at bottom of the page. 3,502,000 visitors.

Total if listed 7th on Goto.com: 26,532,000 visitors.

Compuserve – Could not locate any Goto results.
Mamma.com – Could not locate any GoTo results.
Microsoft bCentral – Could not locate any Goto results.
Findaroo.com – Site was down.

Thanks for sharing this us with legster, are your numbers supposed to represent the # of people viewing the listings or the # of people actually clicking on the listing?

It's total number of visitors, based on one company's research. Does not represent an actual total, but should be close.

Reading that one might think "wow at just a minimum bid of $0.05 I'd be out of money in no time".

You can start small with just a few non-core KWs at say #10 and gage your traffic.
You are in control of your budget.

Assuming that your title and description are compelling, you will get clicks and assuming that your site sells stuff at a competitive price, is easy to navigate and is sophisticated enough to assure the customer of your firms integrity you will make sales. If your ROI will allow you to at least double your money, you can take a percentage of your profits and reinvest in more words and/or higher bids.

So the variables can be:
Bid amount
Title
Description
Price of stuff
Navigation
Site "integrity"
Conversion Rate
ROI

and......what else?
