Has anyone any experience with this PPC site? www.hootingowl.com ? I forgot where I read about them but they promise to give you a for-life, locked-in ranking on up to 5 keywords/phrases. Their starting bid appears to be 2 cents for terms not already taken. I don't know who they partner with, if anyone. And with GoTo, Looksmart and now FindWhat having taken partner positions with almost all the major search engines, can't imagine how Hooting Owl will draw attention to itself, with all the competition out there.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, skipper. My experience would indicate that you might get a few dozen clicks from that offer... and some spam, too.

I may have done a free submit on two or three sites (those tend to blur after awhile). No paid terms. I have rec'd the spam mentioned in the other thread several times, though I am certain that I never opted in. From threads here and in other forums, that was apparently their method of marketing.

You're right about not being able to draw attention to itself. It didn't even make this list [top9.com] and there are some on there that are incredibly small.

Hey, thanks again RC, especially for "this list." I had not seen that particular ranking service of search engines before. Was surprised to see how far up the list nbci.com is on that ranking service. There were some other surprises on that list also. You always expect to see Yahoo and MSN at the top, but did not see AOL. And Looksmart does not have the listing you would expect from all its bragging.

Of course, I've never figured out that AOL omission on so many ranking services --- AOL isn't a geek thing for websites, but it sure is a family thing for those with family oriented websites.

Anyway, thanks for the info and for a new resource in this ever-evolving business of staying on top in search engine rankings.
