hi there,

could someone please explain (or point to a previous thread maybe?) how to easily tag urls in overture for tracking by google analytics?

google does this automatically for adwords campaigns but it seems you have to manually tag every single link in an overture ppc campaign in order track keyword performance in google analytics.

with hundreds of keywords in overture, and more on the way, it seems impractical to do one by one...

thanks!

Hi you could download your account from overture, open it up in excel, then use the concatenate function to add the tagging, then just resubmit the terms.

Hope that helps

There is an easier way. If you log in to overture you will see on the the right hand side of the page the following:

Online Listings : 43
Offline Listings : 0
Low Click Index™ Listings : N/A
Recently Removed Listings : 0
Budget (Edit) : ON

Account : ON
Advanced Match Type : ON
Content Match™ : OFF
Easy Track : ON

The one to click on is easy track, when you click on that it will take you here:
[secure.overture.com...]

then enable easy track on the lower right hand part of that screen.

It will tag your urls with something like this:
&OVRAW=KeywordOVKEY=Keyword&OVMTC=standard
The perk of doing it this way is that you do not have to go through editorial to get the new URLS approved.

cool, thanks for the tip!

one question though... will that format of url work with google analytics i wonder? i'm still new to the system but it seems you have to use a format according to their rules, e.g.

http://example.com/?utm_source=overture&utm_medium=ppc&utm_term=keyword

anyhow i will try and see if it picks it up.

cheers.

formats of the kind &OVRAW=KeywordOVKEY=Keyword&OVMTC=standard will not work with google analytics unless you edit a few settings. its pretty complex.
