It's been a while since I logged into Overture. I get a note today that my account finally ran out of money. So I go to login and I can't remember the password. So I try a few likely ones and still nothing. I then hit the "Forgot Your Password" link and it asks me for email and account id. Ok, I enter it in and it doesn't email a link or send the actual password in an email... it tells me a hint I filled in 5 years ago. Needless to say the password has changed over the last five years and no longer matches "my birthplace"

So I start looking around for a phone number and there is none. No place to call, no way to log in. So I re-read the note and it says, if you need support, just click the link at the bottom of any page inside your account...

I have one better than that. We also barely used Yahoo Search for the last year, with money still in it. Our owner decided to just make deposits and add money when he wants to instead of being automatically charged. I used the contact info at the bottom of the page to request changing our billing preferences... I received an email from Yahoo saying, "Dear ..., Per your request we have attached the estimate for the keywords in first, second, and third position. Please feel free to review." Attached was a spreadsheet with hundreds of keywords (unrelated to us) showing bids to get the #1 spot for each of these keywords. A few minutes later I received another email... "Dear ..., Please disregard the previous email. It was intended for another advertiser, but I accidentally sent it to your email address. I apologize for the inconvenience." Do you think I have much faith in them at all? :-)

This is comical... I replied to this email address: billing-ysm@yahoo-inc.com and I got the following reply:

Thank you for contacting us. This automated response will be the only one you receive to the e-mail you've submitted.

To ensure the security of our advertisers' account information, we now require all advertiser inquires to be submitted through our Support Request Form, a link to which is found at the bottom of nearly all pages within your account. In addition to ensuring the security of your account information, using the Support Request Form allows us to more efficiently respond to specific types of inquiries, providing you with even better service.

If you are not currently an advertiser and would like information on advertising with Yahoo! Search Marketing, please visit our web site at [searchmarketing.yahoo.com...] For all inquires not related to advertising with Yahoo! Search Marketing, please send us an e-mail at feedback@overture.com.

I guess I'll reply to the "feedback" address and count the months or years till these guys figure out I sent a note that I can't log in to my account so I can hand them some more money.
