ok, i thought i had a clue about how this works but i guess i was way wrong. i've submitted about 70 keywords/phrases and so far only 2 decisions have shown up. i got the following terms rejected for being "duplicate search terms": "international student scholarship grant" and "international grant." i guess because the second term was contained in the first. this, however, totally confuses me. i thought you were supposed to bid on different permutations. by their rational, it looks like they'll reject just about all my submissions .

can anyone explain this so even I can understand what's going on? i'd be enormously greatful.

Those 2 terms-phrases should not be flagged as duplicate. Duplicate should only happen if you enter the same keyword EXACTLY the same way twice, or if you enter singular and plural for the same keywords.

example:
videogame
videogames

1 of these terms would be flagged for duplicate. Google actually makes you enter singular and plural - Yahoo(Overture) does not.

never expect their rejection reasons to make sense. if they reject it just submit it again. oh and if you email them a difficult question, expect them to decide that you actually asked them a completely different question, which they will be only too happy to help you with.

that's funny and well put. as it happens, i have a few questions that currently await review. maybe they thought them too easy, because it's about a week now w/out reply. perhaps they should have a "questons pending" link.
