Is it possible to set a specific date to start advertising on?

Im uploading my keywords manually and Yahoo say it will take 3-10 days for them to be verified, but I dont want my adverts to run until a certain date.

actually if you upload them via spreadsheet and mark as offline they should be approved but stay offline. Don't quote on that, Yahoo may have changed this policy.

Your ads may go live more quickly than in 3 days. I suggest you pause your ads once they go live and un-pause them when you want them to run.

I also recommend changing the keyword setting from Advanced to Standard Match. I hate that cannot do this (if you add them online) until they go live.

Do you still need to do that if you have set Advanced Match to be switched off at account level?

In theory having advanced match turned off at the account level SHOULD prevent new terms from going live as advanced match. BUT as we have seen....anything can happen. It's been a while since I added new terms; I just point it out as something to watch for anyone new to Overture-Yahoo.

I should do a test to see what the current status is.

cheers for the answers guys. i uploaded 7 keywords just to test it, set them offline straight away and they actually got approved the same day.

sem4u,

I can confirm that even when you have advanced match turned off at the account level, new keywords default to advanced match. Doesn't make any sense; obviously just another profit generating 'bug' for Yahoo.

Well that is another thing to ask them about. I had better make a list! :)

yeah i've noticed that bostonseo, i also have my account turned off and my categorys default to online when i add new ones.

i hope the categorys follow what I have set at account level as opposed to category level.

can anyone clarify this?

lethal0r - if your account is offline your keywords should not show up for searches. I would check a couple on Yahoo! & MSN though to see if this is really the case!

Also, another perculiar thing with Yahoo! is that if you put a category of keywords offline, it does not actually put them offline. You need to manually change each keyword in the category or they will still show! Useful, eh? ;)
