Overture Needs Major Overhaul

Overture works sometimes, but.....

The whole Overture system appears to be failing in a major way. The figures never correlate, from one page to another. The system is super slow, and unless I haven't got it right, it has had 3 major failings in the past two weeks. This is not good enough, for a leader in the search engine market. It also prevents proper budgeting for users, and it's about time they compensated users, with credits, for the extremely poor service that they offer. In addition, the system has many faults, even when working. For example, to pause a keyword or group, and then try to make it live again, you have to check the listings that you want to go live, as they are not saved. Overall, Overture has a lot to answer for.

The whole system is garbage. It makes Yahoo look really bad IMO. They are so outclassed by Google I can't believe they haven't done anything to change it by now.

If you have an API account you can get some real laughs. I swear the system isn't up for more than 24 hours at a time. They send emails every time something is broken, which is amazingly often..

The UI is hopelessly un-intuitive. I'm pretty clued up when it comes to IT, so the interface really makes me cringe. Was it not tested on actual users before being unleashed?
It just takes for ever to do the most simple things like rename a category for instance.
Dreadful. Truly dreadful.

Google must love Overture's design.

I wonder how many times a day Overture has someone cancel, saying they will stick with just Google?

Overture /Yahoo will never get better. They need to take the whole system down for it to really get fixed...and that will never happen. They don't really care that is has more problems than can ever be attended to (in a timely fashion); if they did they would hire competent programmers and a real CTO/VP of Engineering.

Night and day between the Y! interfaces and the former Overture interfaces. They need to bring some of the folks over from the Y! side of the house and show the 'search marketing team' what a real web application looks (and performs) like. My Y! fantasy baseball account works better than my Overture PPC account...and I think they are making a few more bucks off my PPC account.

I started back with Google last week and as soon as I get my money back or at least get credits to my account for about 300 freakin dollars and use them up, I AM OUT! DONE! NO MAS!

It's cost me so much in time, effort, and stress, trying to figure out where the money went, why I'm getting charged, why there are no clicks showing up, etc.

In a word - idiodic.

We've used OV pre-Yahoo and post-Yahoo.. It seems that the addition of capital has done nothing to increase the up-time. It's awful when you consider the millions per day in revenue.. 'Server Delays' should be a non-issue.

From an uptime and interface perspective, Google is like a miracle compared to OV.

Those things being said, OV does allow for a much faster (when the servers are online) PPC management and that equals a lower CPC and higher ROI - IMO.

It's really too bad that the buying public continues to accept and support such a weak technology backbone at OV.

penman...what are our other options? (rhetorical question). I'm with you, I wouldn't spend a dollar with them if there were suitable alternatives but at this time there are not. I know there are some potentially major new search engines in the works, and the day they come will be a great day. Sadly though, it will probably always be 2-3 major search engines dominating the traffic. There are so many business industries domintated by one or two top players.
