Adware Pop up referrals

Turned off YSM account and it stopped

About 3 days ago I noticed referrals coming from an adware pop-up services. At the same time the click thru rate and cost increased with my YSM account. I do not and never would use an adware service, but somehow my website is being served up in the form of pop-ups.

I suspected that somehow it had something to do with my overture account. So... I turned my account off and the referrals from the pop-ups stopped.

Anybody have any idea what is going on?

PS...the pop-ups are being generated from a well known adware/spyware bug infecting user's PCs.

turned off content a couple of days ago...no effect. only when i turned the whole account off. called YSM and they suggested turning easy track on...so i did. Now another strange thing is happening...getting YSM clicks from direct hits (no referring link).

basically, they want me to found out if the pop-ups are being tagged with easy track. now i have another thing to worry about...YSM clicks from no referring link!

It's possible the direct links with no referral are from competitors clicking on your site from within the "manage bids" interface. These shouldn't be costing you anything.

Then again it may just be that the whole YSM system is in such a state of disarray that they just don't have a handle on what's happening.

Also don't be surprised to find that YSM is knowingly associating with this adware pop up scheme.

Their history, on a moral level, is not all that good. I can remember a bunch of threads a year or so ago about another adware group that they had signed up with. It may even be the same one as I don't know who specifically you are referring to. Do a Google site search of WW for the name of this adware. You may find it's already been discussed.

What really concerns me is that this may be affecting search only clients like us. I have specifically not added content with Over because of some of their shady partners.

I don't know anything about this particular one either - sorry.
