I am returning to Overture after a few years away. The click index on some of my new ads is red. I have a 4% CTR which is pretty good considering position or so I thought. But they might disable my ad if I do improve it?

One of my main terms has been red lined for years.

I also have a 4% to 5% CTR. I wrote support a long time ago asking why the term was red lined and they replied that I was "not to worry about it" as they also considered CTR before deleting keywords.

Just out of curiosity have they deleted any keywords for anyone because of "Low Clickrate" in the last year or so?

Certainly in our niche the number of advertisers has fallen over that time period and I suspect that they haven't been deleting anything.

The click index on Overture is a relative scale to the other advertisers around your listing.

If you have 1 bar, then you know you could be doing a lot better.

If you have 5 bars, then you're doing well.

I've seen keywords removed for low click index in the past month, so I'm sure it's still part of their algo.

Thank you. So I need to get my act together.

Make sure the keyword is included in the title and description, if it isn't already. That's the easiest way to improve your CI score.

They just pulled one term. I will take your recommendation and do the both spots.

I haven't had a term deleted for having a low click index for over two years.

eWhisper's explanation of the system is spot on.

You can resubmit quite a few times. However, you must change something around in the title/description before you resubmit.

I have noticed that sometimes when one submits/resubmits listings they may not show for upto 24 hours in the editorial que - so don't assume because you don't see them there the resubmission didn't go through.
