Ebay on Overture

I've suddenly noticed a huge increase in the number of my keywords that Ebay is bidding on, and the dollar amount they are bidding is absurd. I can make a profit advertising at those price levels, but Ebay has to be losing money. Even if those who list there make many sales (which I doubt), Ebay won't make enough to cover their expense.

Even if every single paid click through bought something, Ebay would still be losing money on many keywords.

Either Ebay is simply so big that they don't notice the large amount of money that they are bleeding on Overture advertising, or they are getting a HUGE discount on their cost per click.

If Overture IS giving them discounts, then as far as I'm concerned they are defrauding me.

Sure they're not affiliates?

I'm sure some agencies have discounts, both for Ov. and G.

Another thing could be to drive competition off the market, because they are huge and can afford to lose some money.

Some are affiliates. I have two Ebay ads competing for one search term at the moment.

" Sure they're not affiliates? "

You mean like an Ebay "powerseller"? If so, no. The overture link just goes to a general Ebay search for the particular items - a bunch of used junk on a few searchwords, and a lot of unrelated junk on another.

At this time, they have dropped on a number of the keywords.

PS Great name. I really hope he goes on an American tour for Real Gone sometime, even if it is so limited that I have to fly out to the left coast to see it.

Pure Comedy. Try searching for oil change, dry cleaner, or space shuttle on google. Ebay on all of them.

I'd love to have them as a client. CPA, "what's that?"

Even more have emerged this week, many trying to outbid me for some great keywords I have.

rkyan, not powerselles on eBay selling items - but people promoting the eBay service via CJ.com. They get paid when people sign up for eBay or buy something.

Discounts? My agency doesn't get discounts. Maybe my rep and I need to talk? That would be awsome!

Maybe Ebay is becoming a little TOO profitable. You know, the have to show uncle sam that they are loosing money with all thier marketing efforts. Who knows?
