I like to think we know the G system fairly well but for various reasons to date we haven't done all that much with Ovt. That's changing now however.

We submitted 20,000 listings via the bulk upload yesterday for a client and 19,050 were declined as they were a mix of "duplicate & broken URLs".

Trouble is, they're not duplicates as evidenced by the fact that there are no ads appearing on these KWs in this highly competitive sector.

(Our 20K KWs all get more than 3 impressions pm on Google)

The KWs we had approved are also not causing the problem as they're radically different.

I'm sure this Q has been asked before but how do you get a large number of unique phrases past the auto-filter without being picked up for "duplicate listings"?

Any clues would be most appreciated
Thanks
J

Not much help, but it is obvious that Overture has some serious problems. A couple of weeks ago I updated just a small list of KW, around 500 or so, and all but 14 got rejected by the auto filter. Mostly for the same reasons as yours - something like 350 "broken URL", yet our site has been down for about 4 hours in 5 years.

Something is rotten in Overture land, and if they don't get it fixed soon they will be having some serious revenue losses.

Thanks Wlauzon
We got quite a few of the "broken URLs" too. Site's cool....

Other than resubmitting, anyone got any other clues?
Thx

Wlauzon,

It appears not all is grand in Google land either?
[webmasterworld.com...]

We've experienced problems at both Over/GAW getting new campaigns up and running. But at least at Overture, I can call our rep., and get things active. At GAW, almost all our keywords go into "on hold" mode, sit there for a few days, and then go into disabled status?

I have been having quite a few problems as well. What I have done is downloaded a spreadsheet of all of the declined listings, marked in red all the ones I feel should be there (duplicate, broken site), and then submitted that spreadsheet to them via the DTC Support Centre.

I have now been sent an e-mail telling me that they are awaiting a second review. I should get an e-mail when these search terms have been reviewed. However, they will not show up under pending status in the DTC. I hope they are approved soon!

We have had far more trouble with Overture than Google. In fact, we have never had a word or phrase put on Trial or on Hold in Google. Our last Overture submission 514 declined, 3 approved, 14 still in review (and now over 5 weeks overdue).

At one time we had close to 1400 KW and phrases in Overture, due to all the errors and problems we are down to less than 75 active ones now. We are not big spenders like some here - but even so, when our daily spending goes from around $40 to 55 cents, there is a definate problem. I know some spend thousands of $ per day - multiply all this by a few hundred thousand accounts, and I see a huge income drop for Overture.
