Overture and VAT

Hi,

I'm european and I'm having an US Overture Account. Due to a european Law from ~July 2003 about VAT charges Overture should charge my account with my local countries VAT Rates, just like Google AdWords does. But on all invoices and Bills I've gotten so far I can't spot any VAT charges at all, neither european nor US, it seems like they just don't care about it?

It would be great if someone could enlighten me a bit on this issue, since I'm having the feeling that Overture charges my account with US VAT, and I'm missing out a tax (VAT) refund here :-)

Hi

Speaking from a British point of view:

You won't get a VAT bill from Overture.com - it's just on your VAT return to your own government that you have to declare the amounts you pay to Overture.com.

In Britain, you put the amounts paid to non-EU companies on both sides of your VAT return (input and output tax) so the net effect for you is zero (ie it isn't actually costing you anything and you aren't claiming it back), but HM Customs and Excise get to see how much business is going on with non-EU companies...
