Traffic from www.overture.com vs partner sites

Seem to get far more traffic from msn, yahoo etc than overture itself

Just wondered if anyone else sees far more clickthroughs from overture's partner sites like msn.com and yahoo.com than from OV itself?

I get the the vast majority of my overture traffic from it's partners, and I've only recently switched content match on too.

I sometimes have the impression that the general searching public doesn't stray too far from Google, MSN and yahoo, and that Overture is used by more 'web-savvy' people and for people looking for B2B-type sites. This would account for most of the OV traffic coming from elsewhere I suppose, with the other 3 having larger 'brand recognition' among the public.

less than 1% of your traffic should be from Overture, and that's Overture editorial staff and competitors looking.

I am 99.9% sure that you are NOT charged for this traffic.

Really?

So no (or very few) members of the normal searching public looking to buy 'whatever' will use overture itself? They will hit my OV ads through Yahoo and MSN instead?

Is that common knowledge? Because if it's not it has just made several things make a lot more sense. (And I can't believe I didn't know!)

Thanks, Shak

I've just mentioned this around the office.

Seems everyone knew except old muggins here.

Can the mods remove this post to hide evidence of my shame? :(

At least your post may serve as a warning to others in the future :)

We've recently seen some conversions which origionated from overture.com search. We were charged for this traffic.

As far as compeitiors clicking on your listings from the 'view bids' screen, and Overture reps looking at sites - I think Shak is right and you're not charged for this traffic.
