Variable counts from overture

Can you explain why I get such large variations here:
term 1 two days ago showed a search count of 18,000
and term 2 of 3,600

Yestersday and today these same terms now show
5,000 and 3,500 repectively.

How can you find a consistent way
of gettng these counts?
