Overture Running Slow

I manage large pay per click campaigns for several companies. I have been noticing Overture running slower and slower for me. It takes a long time for all pages to load and when I want to change an ad or something, it takes forever to load the modify listings pages.

I do not belive that the amount of keywords in the account is the problem, becasue some of my accoutns contain 10,000 keywords while some may contain only 500. They all seem to run with the same slowness.

I am wondering if other people notice the same problems, or if anyone has any ideas to help. The following is a list of things I have already tried with no success.

* Deleted all files in Temporary Internet Files
* Deleted all cookies in Temporary Internet Files
* Made the cache folder small (10MB)
* Made the cache folder large (1GB)
* Tested my bandwidth (1.5 Mbps)
* Scanned and removed all virus and spyware
* Reinstalled the operating system (Windows XP)

I would love to hear any suggestions out there. Thanks!

Have you tried a different computer? Maybe it's something in your overture account?

I too am noticing this lag!
With less than 200 words, it hangs at most of the windows within the overture interface. I sometimes will press STOP after about 45 seconds to have about half of the list loaded. I then do searches for exact keyword either on that page, or with the half loaded page to get to the search box and input it. It will then usually load the one searched phrase window a bit faster....but not by much...if ever.

It is a horrible lag and very annoying.
I am hoping it speeds up sometime soon

I have noticed the same problem -- and it has been worsening over the last couple of weeks (I have not changed computer). Not only is it slower than sludge on occasion, I have also encountered complete "freeze-ups," where I have had to log out and log in again.

I'm glad that someone finally brought up this issue. For the past 5 or 6 months, I have been experiencing this same problem and have basically given up on using Overture.

I only have about 1400 keywords in Overture but everytime I want to change the bid or adjust the description on keyword, it takes a good 45 sec to a minute for Overture to display the next screen.

I don't have this problem with Google where I have over 20,000 keywords and spend $xx,**** dollars a month.

If I can't access the screens in Overture to manage my account and keywords, then I'll forced to rely on Google and lose out on the potential traffic from Yahoo! and MSN.

Of course, they are losing out on my ad dollars.

i've spoken with overture tech plenty of times to tell them there DirectTraffic Center sucks because it runs so slow.

one person there did suggest instead of using IE, i can use a browser called Firefox which makes the DirectTraffic Center move quicker. You can find the download for Firefox at [mozilla.org...] I've been using Firefox and it works a little bit faster than IE. No miracle answer but helps a bit.

Also, the tech told me that the Google toolbar also slows down the speed of the online console. Don't ask why.

Hope that helps but Overture is very slow regardlesss what you do.

Sounds like OV is blaming their overloaded servers, and poor back-end systems on their competitors: MS and G.

I have noticed also that the system is VERY slow at times. Painfully slow. Heck, even Findwhat's system is 5-10x faster, for the same # of kws, etc.

This is not a new problem.
If you look back through the Overture threads for the last couple of years you will see that it has been the same for a long time.
We have dial-up in our remote area and it takes over two minutes for some pages to load. As a comparison AdWords pages load in less than 10 seconds.
It has often been mentioned in this forum that the advertisers are not Over's first priority. If we were this problem would have been solved long ago.

Yes slowness is a huge problem for almost a year now. Hopefully this weekends planned outage will help.

If past history is any indication the slowness problem will not be addressed.

I completely agree; just hopeful :) The only area of improvement with the direct traffic center this year has been the reporting.
